BEDBUGS TO BE AVOIDED EMERGENCY
BEDBUGS TO AVOID!!!!!!!!
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for a week and we had an extremely unpleasant experience.
From the very first days, we began to be stung, without understanding why. It was only on the fifth day that we finally spotted a lot of bedbugs in the bedroom and on the mattress.
This explains the constant itching and pimples on our skin. The mattresses were yellow and dirty, clearly not maintained, and did not match the photos of the hotel. Cleanliness seriously left something to be desired. In addition, we found a cotton swab under a sheet that did not belong to us, which raises serious questions about general hygiene.
This is not to mention the cockroaches circulating in the building.
Fortunately, we were able to treat the problem when we arrived in France and were able to spot bedbugs before they caused more serious damage. If we had not acted quickly, it could have led to serious health problems. This is all the more shocking given that we paid for housing that was supposed to be healthy and secure.
My friend and I were terribly embarrassed.
The most frustrating part of this story is the reaction of the hotel. Rather than assuming the presence of bedbugs and being professional, the establishment accuses us of having brought the bugs back in our suitcases, while we live with our spouses, who had absolutely no such worries. This accusation is not only unfounded but also completely unacceptable.
Moreover, the hotel refuses to refund the entire stay, claiming that it cannot do so on Booking, but also does not want to negotiate or discuss the amount proposed. We don’t even have a say and are accused unfairly, with no possibility of finding common ground.
They impose a derisory amount on us for the two days we were finally able to spot the bugs without possible negotiation.
For a hostel at about 800 euros a week it is unacceptable.
To date I am waiting for a negotiation between booking, the hotel that refuses to cooperate with booking and a huge loss of money that seems to me just to be refunded.
In summary, we strongly recommend against this hotel. Lack of professionalism, refusal to take responsibility for hygiene problems, and deplorable Processing of customers are factors that will make us never return to them. If you care about your comfort and health, go your way.

Worst experience ever. Absolutely horrible.
The worst experience my girlfriend and I have ever had with accommodation. I never write reviews, this is the first time. We arranged with the Hostal staff for a late check-in, we spoke to them on the phone when we arrived in Barcelona and 20 minutes before arriving at Hostal Excellence. They said they would be there to give us the keys to our room, but when we arrived there was no one and none of the associated contacts were answering the phone. They left us waiting without ever responding to our calls for over an hour. We ended up having to go to another, much more expensive hotel because it was already 2:30 am and we needed to sleep. We contacted Booking.com for help and they cancelled our 4-night stay and we were fully reimbursed. Only after Booking.com resolved the issue did the Hostal staff try to contact us and didn't even apologize! They showed no remorse for leaving us without accommodation when we had already paid. It's not even worth mentioning other problems with the Hostal because other reviews already mention them.

AVOID AVOID AVOID
I have stayed there for two nights with my child. The day I came, everything fine at first - I wasn’t expecting huge rooms etc, seemed fine. Left my bags, went for dinner, came back to a message about A BOILER BEING BROKEN. They seemed quite relaxed about it said it will be fixed in the morning, I thought “yeah cool”. Morning came, then afternoon… I was in and out sightseeing and every time I came in I was asking a member of staff when will it be fixed, their response was always “in two hours”. It got so ridiculous I burst in tears.
Easy to guess - water was not fixed until the end of stay, means me and my child were not able to have a normal shower…
I am current awaiting a refund, as I’m back home… let’s hope they can at least sort that one out….
Barcelona is great, this places location is great, but this whole situation - not being able to resolve emergency like a boiler!!! Shocking. On top of that I’m bitten by bedbugs. Beds were uncomfortable as well……

Not bad for hostal
Good location . Room nit bad. Bathroom out clean. Soap shampoo. Tea coffee water cooler free. Staff kind few English. Balcony in the room . 4 nights nobody clean. Was quite but after 6 morning noisy out University. Small fridge no space. Heating no in the room some small but was not cold.

Never this Hostal again, a pure nightmare
Horrible experience! Never in my life have I encountered such treatment. We spent 3 days and nights in a room without air conditioning in the middle of August in hot Barcelona, where it was 36°C. The AC in the room didn’t work at all. Despite making our reservation by phone and confirming directly with them that the room had AC, it was broken when we arrived. There was also a broken fan which is dangerous to use. We reported the issue immediately and they pretended they were going to fix it but did nothing. It turns out they have several rooms with a non functionning AC and they know it. When we asked them to change our room they claimed to be fully booked. So we asked for a discount because it’s impossible to sleep in that heat, the rude receptionist initially offered only a 20% discount. The next day, she changed her mind claiming the room already had a discount! Horrible and unacceptable! NEVER book here! Even though it’s a hostel, when your listing says there’s AC and you don’t provide it, it’s a scam!!
