Lovely B&B

Just returned from a weekend in Grasmere, we stayed at Silver Lea and we weren't disappointed. Beautiful house and garden, right next to paths and walks to the fells. Great breakfast and hospitality, Jill has got it just right, the right level of interaction with guests, and free to come and go. Definitely will return for our annual anniversary trip, silver wedding next year, so silver lea it is

Very Restful

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Jill & Bill. We took a rest day in Grasmere on our C2C walk and found this B&B just what we needed. We found on our walk that the host/hostess makes all the difference in your B&B stay and this was certainly true here. Thank you Jill!

great large room

Stayed 2 nights in Grasmere during the Coast 2 Coast and Silver Lea was very lovely. Had a large room with sitting area and full bath tub which was quite welcome after a long day of walking. Breakfast was the usual offering but porridge was great. Wifi was fine in our room.

Good location

Stayed here on coast to coast after passing many times. Room was really spacious with sitting area. Water pressure not good so struggled to run a bath. Breakfast was good although no sausage and bacon only on request when arrived

Thank you. We are sorry to hear you struggled to run a bath. We do have low water pressure and this can be an issue if demand is high. There is plenty of hot water and we hope that our guests will be rewarded by a relaxing soak in a bath, a cuppa and a well earned sit down. Often by day 3 of the Coast to Coast walk a full breakfast is not so appealing. Our bacon is locally sourced, and we want to provide a good breakfast as you kindly remarked. By asking we have found that we can be better prepared. Thank you for mentioning this. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the walk.

Meh

Charming old stone house (but aren't they all?) and a welcome sight after our walk from Borrowdale. Good breakfast. Hostess warned us about the iffy wifi, but we had difficulty using it at all in room 3. It would connect in the hallway, then disconnect shortly thereafter in our room. Water pressure lacking for the shower.
Comfortable beds. Quiet enough outside to sleep with windows open.

A new word, interesting! Now I realise it means indifferent, yes if demand is high for wi-fi and water that may be so.
Low water pressure and thick stone walls present challenges, Superfast broadband has improved the situation and there is plenty of hot water for our baths and showers.
We hope that, as you kindly remarked, the good breakfast, comfortable beds along with great views, spacious rooms and a warm welcome, facilitate a relaxing stay at Silver Lea. We hope our Coast to Coast walkers leave more refreshed than when they arrived.
