Our stay at the Hotel Im Wilden Mann in Soest was simply top all round! You feel welcome on arrival – super friendly staff, relaxed ambience and really cosy vibe.
The rooms are clean, lovingly decorated and offer everything you need to switch off. Especially nice: the quiet location, combined with the proximity to the old town – perfect for a small city walk or a relaxed weekend.
Breakfast was fresh, varied and mega delicious. You immediately notice that quality is important here. Overall, everything is just right: Service, comfort and atmosphere.
Conclusion: Highly recommended! If you want to stay in Soest and are into cosiness with style, this is the place for you. We will be safe again

Disappointing

On arrival our room was double occupied. We had to move into another room as an alternative. And this only for one night, the next day we had to move into the second room. The first room was tiny small and ancient. The doors didn't close properly, The whole ambience looked like a goat coop. The second room the following day was no better. I've never slept in closets like this before.
Breakfast was no better. A tiny selection of sausage cheese and jam.
Hard eggs, no scrambled eggs on offer. The rolls had to be picked up by the baker first. The coffee wasn't ready. We had to wait about 20 minutes for us to start breakfast.
In the evening we could only reserve a table for the food with difficulty. we were guests there at the time of the Christmas market. When we came from the market and wanted to go to the hotel, I had to pass a bouncer who wouldn't let me in at first. And that's despite the fact that he knew me the day before.
The dinner itself, however, was excellent.
A nice ambience in the inn itself and good food.

Friday evening meal

Four of us are here on our last night of a European bike trip. We sat outside as the weather was good for the first time all week.
All four meals were very good, as we're the beers we had, three different varieties but I can't recall the make.
The inside of the bar is great and was very busy all evening.
Well worth a visit.

Charming hotel in fairytale town

Im Wilden Mann Hotel is right on the main square in Soest, a fairytale walled city of cobbled/brick streets. The building is said to date from 1600s. If you arrive by train it is about a 15 minute walk on a pedestrian street to get to the hotel. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and a very small reception desk. Rooms are up stairs and there is not an elevator. The rooms are small but very nice and decorated simply. The single room I stayed in had everything I needed - hair dryer, wifi, TV with English CNN, desk and chair, screened window (unusual for Europe!) that opens, telephone, comfortable bed. Bathroom is basic and clean.
Wifi is free, however only for one device, and you have to log in every time you use it. It is good for 24 hours, so have to renew each day. A breakfast buffet is included - hard boiled eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, buns, juice, coffee. The restaurant has good German food and a varied menu. The staff were terrific and spoke English. Booked with the hotel, the cost for a single room was 53 Euros a night, including breakfast.

Historic Place

I stayed here on a quick business trip and found it very interesting. The building has a long history going back hundreds of years. My room was very basic, but clean. The breakfast is simple, but good. The hotel itself and the pedestrian area around it are the real reason to stay to here. The bar was also a nice place to have a drink in the evening and talk to some of the other guests. The only downside is that it is a little hard to find and you have to park in garage a few blocks away.
