A day as president

Extremely elegant and very central location.
Our lovely room overlooked the courtyard, the Saint George church, and the presidential palace.
The breakfast is plentiful, but on days when they expect a larger crowd, they should organize a schedule with assigned times.
It is unfortunate that there is no place to load and unload luggage.
The hotel does not have its own parking, but there are public ones nearby.
Unbeatable price!

Disappointed

We arrived at the hotel today, the room was only ready at four and a half instead of three, the floor was not clean and the room was nothing.

EXCELLENT LOCATION - EXECUTIVE SUITE IS GREAT

The location of this Hotel is great. The building is very beautiful. In the very center of everything. Metro station just in front of the Hotel. Vitosha Boulevard only 2 minutes away. With in walking distance from cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Check in was way too slow. Lobby was very beautiful. Our executive suite on the 2nd floor, was huge with great views. Room with double was very big with very comfortable bed and pillows and the doors closed to separate it from the rest of the space. Shower was huge. Slippers and bath robes were available but only for 3 and our reservation was for 4 people. Extra bed was comfortable but sofa which was turned to bed was extremely uncomfortable. We had to ask to the reception to come and clean the room (unacceptable for such a hotel). After returning to the hotel I have noticed that even though the room was cleaned a piece of paper that was from the 1st day in front of the shower was still there. Staff at reception and restaurant very polite, but I can’t say the same for the staff at breakfast area. Breakfast had many many options for every taste. Coffee was terrible and when I tried to order I was said that is available only from the machine. Check out very fast. Overall we had a great time in spite of the minor issues I mentioned above.

I had a wonderful stay at Sofia Balkan Palace and was truly impressed by the hotel’s elegance, exceptional hospitality, and unbeatable location in the heart of Sofia. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and attentive, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience throughout my stay.
My room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and impeccably clean, combining classic charm with modern comfort. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the city.
The breakfast was excellent, offering a generous selection of fresh, high-quality local and international dishes. I also appreciated the hotel’s historic character and refined atmosphere, which made my stay feel even more special.
One of the greatest advantages of Sofia Balkan Palace is its prime location, within walking distance of Sofia’s main attractions, shopping streets, restaurants, and public transportation, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers.
I highly recommend Sofia Balkan Palace to anyone visiting Sofia. It offers timeless elegance, outstanding service, and an unforgettable guest experience. I would gladly stay here again on my next visit to Bulgaria.

Unimpressed

Very unimpressed. The hotel looks lovely from the outside as well as inside, however beyond that, it really sucks. The service, if you want to call it that, is lazy and inept. Charles, who checked me in, seemed like he could not care less, and his colleague, name tag-less, seemed equally apathetic. The first room I was given on level 6 had a very low roof and felt quite dark and claustrophobic, and the 'balcony' had a wall about 2m high meaning that it felt more like a prison cell than a balcony.
The second room I was given on level 4 is about the same size, perhaps a little larger, but poorly laid out, damaged paint and overall does not look well maintained.
I asked for extra pillows to be sent to the room only to be told by one of the two useless robots at reception that housekeeping was unavailable--this I find hard to believe and suspect that they just could not be bothered.
