Convenient Location, Good Gastro Pub

We were driving from Madrid to Lisbon and decided to stay about halfway and spend a night. Merida has a lot of great Roman ruins to see so we decided to stay. The hotel is quite large with a great restaurant and convenient parking. There's a very nice outdoor pool and bar area when open during the summer season. Our trip was in November so it was closed. I had booked the hotel ahead of time so check-in was very easy. Staff at the desk spoke enough English to get by. The room and furnishings seemed a little old and outdated, but this may be a little typical of European hotels. Staff was very friendly and the gastro pub had great service and food. The ruins were an easy walk from the hotel. I would stay there again and would have no problem recommending it.

Great Stay in Historical City of Mérida

Can’t be a bad hotel because this was my second stay here.
Checkin was perfect by an efficient and helpful young man name Gustavo, who deserves a special mention as he helped in trying to resolve a small problem when contacting a previous hotel (my Spanish doesn’t run to in-depth conversations over the telephone). He also showed me where to go to eat and drink and avoid the more expensive touristy bars - so thank you Gustavo.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable with good aircon.
Didn’t using any of the in-house dining facilities so can’t comment upon food.
There is on-site covered parking.
The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the Roman Theatre, Casa Romano, and Amphitheatre - and not far from those to the Roman Bridge all the numerous other historical building that Mérida offers. Go to the Plaza de España for beer and food.
Definitely worth a 2 night stay to take in the sights of Mérida.

Good option for visiting Mérida.

Good and economical alternative for visiting Mérida. Clean rooms, good mattresses, the bathroom would need a renovation. Basically, it is an event hotel, yet it is comfortable (in our case, we used it as a stopover on our way to Cádiz). It has affordable monitored parking. Very close, there is a Día supermarket, a gas station, and other services. From reception to hospitality, all the employees are very professional and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised by the dinner preparations, due to the simplicity of their offerings and the quality of the product. The breakfast buffet is somewhat limited, and there is no live cooking available.
Even so, it will be my "stopover and inn" hotel every time I travel south or want to visit Mérida again.

Bad Breakfast

We decided to have breakfast at Don Romulo (the hotel’s main cafeteria) this morning.
Upon entrance, there was an immediate shock from the screaming waiters!! We sat down and no one greeted us but only yelled at us asking for what coffees we wanted.
We then proceeded to order our tostadas but were straight away stopped by the waiter because we had to order by number not name of the tostadas!!
During the breakfast the waiters yelling and the over all atmosphere was extremely unsettling. On top, they wouldn’t stop complaining that people kept on arriving.
I will not return here unless I want to start my day with a pile of nerves!!
