A very easy checkin, a great location (with an amazing pub next door), quiet, and everything one needs for a place to stay while visiting or passing through. Basic accommodation but really, that's all you need! I would definitely stay again!

Terrible

This inn was disgusting. Filthy dirty. Paid over $230 a night for a stay. The room had no windows. Just curtains nailed to the wall to make it look like a window. Cigarette butts on the floor, dirty towel under the bed that was not ours, moldy shower curtain, TV did not work. The room was terrible. Room 410. Fourth floor. No elevator and the so called balcony wasn't safe. There was a hole in the deck of it and full of pigeons. I would not recommend this place to my dog.

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE: Zero customer service and major health hazards

Do NOT book the Commons Inn.
After booking, I came across horrific reviews revealing active rodent (mice) infestations and severe sanitation issues at this property. As someone who is disabled and severely immunocompromised, staying in an environment with known rodent hazards is a direct threat to my health and completely unsafe.
I tried cancelling my reservation well before the trip. I reached out multiple times via phone and email through Expedia, Blue Rewards, and directly to the Commons Inn itself. The result? Completely ignored by email, and bluntly denied a refund over the phone under the guise of a "non-refundable policy."
Hiding behind a non-refundable clause when your facility poses legitimate health and safety hazards is unacceptable. Charging guests to stay in unsafe conditions and then ignoring their desperate customer service requests is predator behavior.
Save yourself the stress, health risks, and wasted money. Stay anywhere else!

JUST STOP, rethink this one. Inside the hotel is under construction. There is only street parking or a tiny lot that is currently full of construction equipment. The room was tiny. The TV mounted onto the wall was going towards the ceiling that only supported Comcast tv, no cable. This very tiny room had a king size bed although clean was not very comfortable. I had to pin the curtain shut just so people on the street couldn’t see us getting changed. The doors to the outside were manual locks so anyone could walk in, it was downtown Halifax. The door to the room was a wood door with an electric lock that was barely holding onto the frame and you could see light all around the door when the lights were off. We were not impressed at all. On a good note the staff was nice, the room for the most part was clean although the shower corners did have mold. Would be good to sleep only at this point, has potential to be a nice place when it is renovated but not yet.

This was the second time that I have stayed here. I enjoyed it each time. Staying here on trip #2 did however cost more than the first time. Having breakfast included is a huge convenience.
