Always happy to return

Very friendly and personal. My husband was in Lahr at the local heart clinic. I had stayed there for three nights. The room was clean!!! The hosts were very friendly. When I was able to pick my husband up from the clinic, I spent another night there and was treated like a regular guest. The breakfast is plentiful.

Great staff

I'm not as optimistic about the other comments, I'm nuanced.
First of all, the very positive, the staff is charming and ready to do anything to make your life easier, friendly and available. Then the location of the establishment is really TOP, right in the center, with shops nearby, except that the proposed garage is closed (gate down) and the hotel reception, although surprised leaves me to manage to find a solution. Then, the dilapidated place imposes a maze of access to the rooms that has multiple stairs, all without elevator. If the bedding is clean, the carpet floor is not. There is still garbage from the previous tenant. And then there are these creeping smells, light but present, of "dirty feet, cooking, sweating, old fat and cold smoke", as in the Welcoming Homes for tramps, for those who are sensitive of the nose.... abstain. With my stature, the beds seem a little short and the pillow HUGE, no shower but a bathtub (great and dangerous for the old...) and to finish the noise: the n°1 customers who slam the doors and make scream their TV until midnight, and the n°2 who start their day at 06:00 without regard for those who would like to start it a little later = the night was rather short.
As for the breakfast, excellent, German buffet, so very good. To close, I regret to have discovered again at 7:00 p.m. the closing of the hotel restaurant on Sunday evening; I think the reception could have made me aware of it. So for one night it's still acceptable, but just one night.

Good, central, friendly

Simple room, quiet, very centrally located, very friendly. Breakfast was good, although I was missing a bit more whole grains (bread, muesli). Room was clean. A bottle of mineral water was also nice. Parking possible in the courtyard behind the hotel.

Worth the wait

We attempted to eat here twice before managing to get a table. Kept showing up too late in the day, too early or on their ruhetag. Definitely worth the wait though. Food was great and the staff were kind and patient while we practiced our German. We really enjoyed the goulash, schnitzel paniert and the rahmsoße. The upstairs portion of the restaurant is smoke free. Would go again :)

Basic and comfortable

Overall nice and clean. Good restaurants but the downstairs pub is smoke filled = yucky. Food is very good with giant proportions. Problems = no lift, many stairs, no soap or shampoo provided. In center city, near walking area, near shops and coffee bars. Overall = ok. Add some soap, shampoo would be a 4. Early check out too.
